After watching this explanation of the seven-minute landing sequence that required complete autonomy on the rover's part, it is unbelievable and amazing that the 5,293-pound Curiosity landed successfully. Unfortunately I missed the eclipse, but I did find some gorgeous photographs of the event, which happened to be the longest eclipse since 2000 and one of only four to last more than 100 minutes.
