The open floor plan was inviting and exciting, but their now 10-year-old son was getting a bit too old for an open room. He needed a door, but he probably never imagined that his need for a room of his own and a love of legos would translate to a renovation revolving around the building blocks. </p> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="620" height="413" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_03.jpg?1341361801" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-images"> <div class="field-label">Images:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="413" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_04.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="413" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_07.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="413" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_08.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="428" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_10.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="465" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_12.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="395" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_11.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="678" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_05.jpg?1341362012" /> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="413" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_06.jpg?1341362030" /> </div> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_images" width="620" height="574" title="Design, ibeam, lego" alt="" src="https://design.org/sites/default/files/blog/2012/07/03/ibeam_lego_02.jpg?1341362042" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-featured"> <div class="field-label">Featured:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Not Featured </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="https://design.org/blog/interior-design-art-and-20000-legos-modern-home-renovation" target="_blank">read more</a></p> https://design.org/blog/interior-design-art-and-20000-legos-modern-home-renovation#comments architecture art design interior lego modern newyork Wed, 04 Jul 2012 00:46:11 +0000 jessicapatterson 4266 at https://design.org Elips Design's Modern and Kid-Friendly Home https://design.org/blog/elips-designs-modern-and-kid-friendly-home <p>Often what we envision as a modern home includes cold, hard lines, minimal spaces and sparse decor—not a place a family would seemingly thrive.
