Audi Illustrations for Peak Climb: Automotive & Graphic Design

Davvi, who specializes in infographic design, created these illustrations for Popular Science Magazine (May 2010), for the Audi TTS coupe research project. The autonomous Audi, Shelley, will drive itself up the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado. I like the technical aspect of both parts of the image and how he combined the rendering of the mountain with the photographic illustration of the vehicle. You can read more about the process at Davvi's portfolio page.

Shelley will climb 4,721 feet up the mountain on paved and gravel roads. No other autonomous vehicle has attempted the high-speed, 12.4-mile course with 156 turns. See the video about the process of preparing Shelley for the road (complete with a large-scale Audi logo drifted in the snow). ↓
