Burnt Out: Fire Sculpted Furniture by Kaspar Hamacher

Belgium-based furniture and product designer Kaspar Hamacher "loves wood and his chain saw." But for these stools he turned up the heat and introduced raw fire as a tool.

The series, titled ‘Ausgebrannt,’ (i.e. ‘Burnt Out’), embraces the raw form of naturally felled or dead wood. Kaspar takes the local tree remnants, pieces them together, and uses fire sculpting to carve out the legs. The scorching and use of raw timber produces some beautiful and unique details within the stool and table "templates."
