California-based Column Five created this gorgeous and interactive infographic as a gift for their clients and partners this past holiday season. They combined two of their favorite topics—coffee and data visualization.

A lucky 150 clients and 50 partners received limited edition prints of their participatory coffee poster. The infographic provides a canvas to track caffein consumption data over the course of a month. "The instructions outline a few calculations to analyze personal consumption trends. Once monthly tracking is complete, the drinker can use their coffee (or a stronger version thereof) to ‘paint’ their data onto the poster to complete the visualization."

In a very digital world, where it's easy to instantly track so many aspects of our life, it's refreshing to see a project like this that brings the user full circle off the screen. It's contemplative to recognize data patterns in life and then to visualize them using the commodity under consideration.

They aptly included a half pound of coffee from local micro-roastery Lord Windsor Roasters. And, after clients complete their posters, they are welcomed to send in a photo with their finished visualization to enter to win a year's supply of coffee.
