Could you be Driving More Economically? The Glass of Water App Shows how you Measure Up

Toyota suggests that we all drive a little more mindfully by imaging a glass of water on our dashboard, so they developed a mobile app to help. In partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi, they designed the app to mimic a glass of water on the dashboard.

How is Glass of Water helpful? By driving with the goal of not spilling the water, driving is less aggressive with fewer extreme movements, thereby saving fuel and reducing emissions. The app records driving distance, time, fuel consumption and “water” spilled. After each drive, users view their results on a map to pinpoint where, physically, they could improve their driving. Results automatically upload to Toyota's website where drivers can compare their driving record against those of other participants.

In Sweeden alone, drivers operating under this mentality could save 2 million tons of CO2 emissions each year.
