Deliciously Retro Modern Bicycle Designs from Creme Cycles

Design, creme, bicycle

The cyclist subculture fascinates me, and I've shared some beautiful and inventive bicycle posts in the past. You can see the work and care that goes into designing a quality machine that will last a lifetime. Creme Cycles, a European bicycle maker, is one such company, and the pun only makes me love them more.

Creme's goal is to manufacture modern bicycles that are both practical and attractive. Their designs find inspiration in the vintage and retro, which I love, but riders often sacrifice function for aesthetic when pedaling vintage one-speeds. Creme's designs have the simple lines and crafted designs of retro bicycles, but they also include modern elements that make sense for the current commuter, like internal gear systems and an iPod charger powered by a dynamo in the front hub. Their sturdy steel frames are powder-coated to maintain shine, and they claim that the cycles don't rattle when launched from curbs and over bumps.

They have four styles of cycles available in his and hers for the casual rider to the serious commuter. Each bike has a classic Brooks leather saddle, and the higher end design's frames are constructed by Tange, a legendary frame maker in Japan.
