The Development Timeline of Woodbot by Designchapel

Robert Lindstroem of Designchapel and Mathias Lindgren in Stockholm are working on side project designing and manufacturing Woodbot Pilots, a character derived from a 3D interactive exhibition. Though the toy design is only in the prototyping faze, it's easy to see that these creatures have the potential to be awesome pieces some day.

I found their blog coverage of the design and industrial prototyping process quite interesting. They talk about the difficulties of communicating across distance and the language barrier, while trying to discover exactly what they will and will not have the ability to produce. Some of their prototypes grew new wires, changed colors and lost certain design elements. Nonetheless, it's fascinating to see the little guys materialize from the first sketches and designs.

I hope they'll be able to fully realize their vision or at least find alternatives they're happy with if the production process doesn't agree.
