DKNG is the combined multidisciplinary studio of Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman. This project—a show poster for the band Explosions in the Sky—is especially beautiful, with a variety of graphic treatments and styles converging to create the final, mystical design (with a great color palette to boot).

The duo had hoped they would someday get the chance to work on an Explosions in the Sky print, so when the opportunity arose, they wanted to make it a memorable one. Their design idea was inspired by an interview that described the band as producing a "Mammoth Sound." The process video below shows the design from sketch to finish, including reference images, the geometric construction, effect production and textures.

The final poster was a 24″ x 18″ two-color print, screen printed on 80 lb. French Speckletone “Sand.” They also created an art print of the design without the text (unfortunately it's no longer available in the DKNG shop).
