Fanangled: A Modern and Geometric Playing Card Design

TunnelBravo is a Gilbert, Arizona based branding and design agency headed by John Johnson and Stewart West. They have set out to rebrand the ubiquitous playing card deck with new suits, pips, facecards and more. To fund the project, they've taken to Kickstarter.

The duo—whose usual MO includes fantastic branding and rebranding packages—also enjoys playing cards. They decided to envision the classic deck from a new angle—literally. Every element of their new design is angled.

The Decks will be printed by U.S. Playing Card Co., who have been at the forefront of printing playing cards for more than 100 years. TunnelBravo originally planned to print the cards on Bicycle-grade paper—linen / textured finish—but after receiving requests to upgrade, they decided to print on the highest quality paper: Casino Bee card stock with magic finish.

After they finalized the suite of designs, they carried elements over to a coin, T-shirts and a silk-screened poster design, which are rewards for some of the higher-level pledge brackets at the Kickstarter campaign.

If you're a fan of the designs, head over to pledge your support and essentially pre-order your decks. With 15 days to go, they've currently raised almost $7,000 of their $24,360 goal—an amount based on their researched and calculated printing costs.
