Furniture Design: The Oddbod Chair

Javier Alejandre exhibited his chair, Oddbod, at the Spanish Design Awards INJUVE 2010. The product designer and student from Madrid designed Oddbod to play at the boundary between inert objects and living creatures by using shapes that call to mind extraterrestrial bodies (and it is a pretty cute, alien-like chair). The formal inspirations for the design stem from sci-fi movies of the mid-twentieth century and retrofuturistic organic design tendencies. The body is rotomoulded PE and the legs are pine.
