Kenneth Jansson: Handmade Design Posters
Designer and Student Kenneth Jansson created a series of poster designs for his BFA thesis project.

His posters focus on the design process when the computer is eliminated and hand-crafted designs take the place of digital ones.

He was inspired to craft the series by designers that do not rely on the computer to conceptualize everything, and he stumbled upon a quote from Milton Glaser— "Computers are to design as microwaves are to cooking." Kenneth started thinking about various ways to interpret that mentality, and thought "it could mean that you cannot design on the computer at all, but, more appropriately, it could mean that the computer can only be a very limited part of design—there is more ("culinary") design to be explored and done by hand."

He was also inspired by designers like Sagmeister and Jean Jullien,
but he decided to focus his designs on childhood experiences—the beads used to craft the portrait and handicrafts his mother worked with including needle, thread and cross-stitch. The embroidery was more labor intensive than he imagined, and during the process he discovered a new respect for people who still work with handicrafts as a hobby, "in a time when we tend to live our lives fully digital."
