A Modern Memorial for Tony Wilson

Record label founder and owner, broadcaster and cultural catalyst Tony Wilson passed away from cancer in 2007. As shared by Nocturnal, the completion of his headstone and its delivery to Manchester came about more than three years after his death. His friends and Factory Records collaborators Peter Saville and Ben Kelly designed the poignant memorial with Paul Barnes and Matt Robertson. They unveiled it recently at Wilson's resting place in The Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester.

The black granite headstone bares a quote from The Manchester Man, a novel by Mrs G Linnaeus Banks. Wilson's family chose the quote to memorialize the influential man sometimes known by the same title. The quote is set in Rotis.
