Moustaches Make a Difference: Advertising Design

These ads are part of a campaign by Moustaches Make a Difference to raise money for prostate cancer research. The idea is to grow a mustache to support the cause, i.e. mustaches make a difference, and mustaches on these men make them the influential individuals they are.

I found these over at Ads of the World, and there's quite a bit of debate going on in the comments as to a.) the value of the ad campaign, b.) the originality of the ad campaign (and similarities to the Oogmerk series), and c.) the inclusion of Stalin (which I think was a very strange move). How do you feel about the idea of the campaign and the icons they chose?
