Belyaev Design, a design studio and cooperative factory in Saint-Petersburg, Russia (with a rep. in Boston), designed the Nova clock to meld modern design with classic elements.

They were influenced by classics like the Howard Miller clock, and wanted to create something with "new aesthetics of old motives."
