Photography and Inspiration from the Total Lunar Eclipse

I saw Google's Doodle today, which displayed the lunar eclipse in real and selected time. I jumped over to Space.com to check out the details. Unfortunately I missed the eclipse, but I did find some gorgeous photographs of the event, which happened to be the longest eclipse since 2000 and one of only four to last more than 100 minutes. Also check out the fun infographic video toward the bottom of this post to brush up on some terms or learn why the moon turns red.

And some beautiful images from the 2010 lunar eclipse:

Images from space often intrigue me with surreal colors and forms, and I think they can make an excellent form of inspiration.
