Sacchetto The Envelope Chair by Spalvieri/Del Ciotto

Sacchetto is an armchair created by experimental Milan design firm Spalvieri/Del Ciotto and a study on the use of Tyvek as an interior design solution. Tyvek is a non-woven high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which you might recognize more commonly as durable and waterproof mailing envelopes.

The material lives well outdoors and, in addition to being waterproof and durable, it's also resistant to UV damage. The firm devised a method to join pieces of the material without glue or sewing through ultrasonic soldiering, making the joints water-proof as well.

The form to function disparity makes the chair design doubly interesting, with the delicate appearance of paper and extreme durability.
