Segmented and Modern Kitchen Sink Designs from Duravit

Considering everything but the kitchen sink is a thing of the past. These ceramic sinks from Duravit are at once strikingly modern and functionally fantastic. The cleanly considered lines form basins chosen by the user to reflect their habits with a variety of segmentations that appeal to different uses.

It's amazing how we take our kitchen sink at face value—basin and drain, while these designs consider common kitchen chores: waste-catching, splash guards, cleaning, etc., to create a more pleasant interaction. See the flagship Duravit Cucina lines below—Kiora, Starck K and Vero.

The Kiora model—designed by Sieger Design—includes small but well-considered details to make the chore of dishwashing flow more smoothly.

The tilt of the draining board is such that water can simply flow off plates, pots and pans back into the sink—something those [ugly] plastic boards have been trying to accomplish for years. The sink's design is reversible and able to be mounted above the countertop or flush to the surface for flexibility.

Starck K:

Designed by Starck, this sink lives harmoniously within its surroundings with clean lines and a protruding basin, creating an independent but complementing container.

The Starck K hopes to be agreeable and helpful with overflow protection built into the drainage section and an easily removable drain cover for cleaning

Vero:

This series features a classic, rectangular form focussing on purism and design. Available in multiple finishes—white, pergamon, chestnut, matt anthracite and black, the sink can compliment the workspace or be a showpiece.

What makes this design a true workhouse? Its undercounter mount extends the workspace—scraps and liquids can be wiped directly into the basin.
