Empty Memory from Logical Art visualizes the abstract space of electronic memory, allowing its owner to fill the voided space with their invisible data. Since flash drives have continually decreased in size while adding space, the hollow area poetically implies the "invisible technology."

Many of Emo's projects are ultra-modern and hewn predominantly from glossy plastics and metals. The Italian, industrial design consultancy often works in sports equipment, electronics and modern furnishings. Their recent design project, Hug, shown at the Salone del Mobile, finds an interesting middle ground—the form is smooth and modern but with a distinct sense of craftsmanship created through the uneven and hand-sawed surfaces.

San Francisco-based designer and illustrator Brent Couchman has a portfolio packed with beautiful work, including a hearty collection of designs done for Fossil. Here I'd like to share some of his typography work, both experimental studies and samples done for Friends of Type. What I love most about his type pieces is the variety in style and the care in their execution.
