  • Stuart Ford, a multidisciplinary designer in the UK (whose website is quite fun to explore), created this album cover and artwork for an album of the Film Music of Hans Zimmer (Vol.2). The design was inspired by Inception and draws on the environments and themes of "vast, maze-like landscapes and complex impossible patterns mirroring the intricate networks of the mind." The album also references the style of angular, German industrial architecture.

  • Ross Teperek, a designer in London, created this branding standard and logo for The Albion cycling magazine. I'm a fan of the simple, clean design and the monochrome/pop of color approach. The logo designs seem to tie in well with the style and character of cycle branding as well.

  • Bunch, a creative studio with locations in London and Croatia, has an impressive and expansive portfolio across a wide-range of media. Some of my favorite items: their poster designs. The layouts are both inventive and inspired by the classics.

  • This self-promotional mailer at Effektive Studio, a UK-based design studio, is a powerhouse of typography, images and dynamic layout. The mailer was designed by studio founder Greig Anderson, to promote himself while on a work visa in Sydney.

I would be excited and intrigued upon receiving this in the mail, and a product like this definitely shows how much a designer cares about his or her work, both as an ideal and in practice.

  • These are a few of the works of GMUNK (Bradley G Munkowitz) during his stint as a design director at Buck Los Angeles. They consist of brand pitches that never ended up seeing the light of day as they were intended to. But thankfully, he posted them up on the GMUNK site for us to see. If my accepted designs are ever half as cool as Bradley's rejects, I'll be pretty pumped.

  • Matt Stevens created this awesome identity design and the brand elements for Varsity Donuts of Manhattan, Kansas. The cheery designs have hints of vintage ephemera, but still feel modern with bold lines and color splashes, and they seem to capture that local spirit and pride that the donut company was looking for. These images are from phase one, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing phase two, which will include packaging, fleet graphics and more.
