But if positive affirmations are really going to make a difference for you, personally, then you have to pick the right affirmations—ones that will help you start where you’re at and grow from there.

Because if you don’t have hope for a better future, why try to create it? Positive affirmations about hope
The past is gone; I focus on the future.
Hope is all about letting go of the thoughts, beliefs, and actions of the past. While it’s true that you can (and should) learn from your past, hope is about taking those lessons and applying them to the future, while letting go of anything that’s held you back. This affirmation can help you remember that if you’re going to live a hopeful life, your focus should be on what lies ahead.
I expect great things to happen.
Not only does hope look toward the future—it looks forward to a bright future. Hope is about recognizing that good things are yet to come, and about expecting them to come. This affirmation can instill a positivity that will make it easier to develop positive beliefs and deeper purpose.
I choose to see the good.
Life isn’t always easy, and the world isn’t always an idyllic place. But hopeful people recognize that nothing is ever all bad. When you have hope, you can spot moments of beauty, acts of kindness, and other silver linings that remind you that goodness is out there, always. And, in our experience, the more you choose to see the good, the easier it is to find it.
There is always another way.
Hopelessness is feeling backed into a corner, or down in a hole you can’t climb out of. Hope, on the other hand, is knowing that there’s always something else you could try. When you’re at this stage in your journey, it’s not important that you don’t know what the “other way” is. You’ll figure that out later. What’s important right now is that you acknowledge that another way is there, and that you have hope that will a little direction and hard work, you just might be able to find it.
I can achieve anything.
Hope is inextricably tied to self-confidence (in fact, there’s science behind that, too.) Self-confidence is, in a way, having hope in yourself. This affirmation helps you to build that hope, reminding you that you are in charge of your own destiny, that you are capable of creating change in your life, and that you can achieve the things you set your mind to. Again, this thought doesn’t necessarily mean you have it all figured out; it just means that you have hope in your own abilities and believe that you can get yourself to where you want to go.
Hope may be new to you, but with these affirmations, you can start changing the way you think about hope. Ultimately, these positive thoughts will lead to real and lasting change in your life.
